The City of Bloomington, MN called for an underground detention system to be installed under a green space. The pipe was 144" solid 10-gage Aluminized Steel Pipe with 24" wide corrugated levee bands and 24" wide flat gaskets to provide for a tight-fitting band connection.What makes this large pipe installation fall under the sustainability category, is native coarse sand, meeting ASTM Class II material, was used as backfill. No special backfill was needed to be imported onto the project site. This saved the owner a substantial amount of tax dollars as well as saved several transportation trucks that would have been otherwise needed to haul off existing fill and bring in select fill.

This 132" Corrugated Steel Pipe crane tower enclosure was used for the construction of a high rise building in downtown Minneapolis. CSP crane tower enclosers are a stay in place enclosure that allows for the crane to be placed at basement level. During the building construction process, fill is brought up around the pipe to final ground surface elevation. After the project, the crane can be disassembled from inside the pipe enclosure. After the crane is removed the CSP is filled with compacted soil. CSP played a vital role in the construction of the high rise building.

The new Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, IL required underground storage to meet local permitting requirements in Cook County, IL (MWRDGC). Two CMP Detention Systems (54" - shown and 30" diameter) were chosen for their structural capacity, design flexibility and economics. In the photo above, the 54" systems sits between the larger of two buildings and the western property line and is connected to vast array of 54" CMP between the two buildings on site. The two systems provided a total storage of 61,807 CF.

A failing reinforced concrete box culvert needed rehabilitation. This central Iowa county chose Corrugated Steel Pipe as the answer to the problem. 64" inside diameter pipe was used to maximum the flow of the water while still allowing enough room to back grout the new pipe. Corrugated Steel Pipe can be manufactured in any pipe diameter because it is not extruded list plastic pipe or cast is set forms like concrete pipe. This allows for the most hydraulically efficient reline pipe for inlet flow culverts. The inlet and outlet of the culvert have new steel end sections as a cost-effective end treatment.
